| Boruc faces knee surgery lay-off Artur Boruc could miss the rest of the Celtic's Champions League campaign as he is to have knee surgery.
The Pole will be available to play against Motherwell on Saturday before going under the knife on Monday.
Boruc could require up to a month to recover, which would span the Champions League matches against Aalborg on 25 November and Villarreal on 10 December.
The Celtic number one had surgery on a knee problem in December 2007 and returned to action three weeks later.
The loss of the Poland international's services is a big blow to Celtic as they battle to qualify for the last 16 of Europe's top club competition.
Second-choice goalkeeper Mark Brown, who has made 10 appearances since arriving from Inverness Caley Thistle in January 2007, is likely to deputise.
Despite his low number of first team outings for Celtic, Brown gained some European experience in last season's Champions League qualifier away to Spartak Moscow.
Boruc, who has at times courted controversy, has been an important part of manager Gordon Strachan's team since signing for the club in 2005 from Legia Warsaw.
Celtic are currently third in Group E with two points, behind Manchester United and Villarreal.
In order to reach the knock-out stage for the third year in succession, they would need to beat both Aalborg and Villarreal - the latter by two clear goals - and hope Manchester United also defeat both in their remaining fixtures.
If Boruc were to miss a month of action, it would also encompass Scottish Premier League matches against Kilmarnock and Hamilton Accies, St Mirren, Inverness Caley Thistle and Hibernian.
